John Francis Lowery Obituary

John, the son of the late Robert and Mary (Howlett) Lowery and beloved youngest brother of the late Robert and Marie Lowery, left this earthly world on January 17, 2026 to clasp the nail-scarred hand of his Saviour. Embraced by the supportive love and attentive care of Shawna MacKinnon, a caregiver extraordinaire and the Ivey’s Terrace Nursing Home team at large, heartfelt gratitude in full measure is rendered in return.

Survived by special cousins – Tina MacRae of Halifax, Clarence (Marie) Landry of Louisdale and dearest friends – John (Rose) Rudolph of New Glasgow.

Though John’s resume boasted a variety of jobs during youth, the core years of active employment were proudly devoted to the role of bus driver: first with Pictou County Transit and later with CHAD Transit from where retirement from the workforce occurred in 2010.

To know John was to experience the true definition of thy brother’s keeper, a selfless soul, a kind heart, a gentle spirit, a steward of godly principles and a loyal friend. JOY (Jesus, Others, Yourself) was the internalized acronym of sequenced priorities for John’s daily Christian walk: a roadmap that rewarded unto him the deepest fulfillment of the word’s meaning. Humble and meek in character yet forging a blueprinted legacy so richly profound: a provider to his parents, a protector for his siblings, a helpful companion to all – a reflector of God’s heart, a beacon of His light and a testament of His love.

Death is not a period in the sentence of life, but rather a semi-colon that continues onwards.

"To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord"

II Corinthians 5:8 (KJV)

The angels bow their heads … all of heaven applauds …

a soldier of the Cross … a pilgrim of the faith has come home!

Yesterday’s influence … today’s memories … tomorrow’s reunion.
