WESTERMAN, JEAN age 95 of New Glasgow:

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Aunt Jean on January 18, 2026 at Glen Haven Manor in New Glasgow. She was born June 29, 1930 in New Glasgow where she lived all her life except for 11 years which she spent in Bermuda working for the Bermuda Electric Light Company.

She was the daughter of the late William and Amy (Stallard) Westerman. She was predeceased by brothers Ted and Bill Westerman, sisters Rose Bowes and Mary Smeltzer, many halfsiblings, sisters-in-law Eve, Marjorie and Olive Westerman and nephews Billy, Jimmy, and Peter Westerman, and niece Vicki MacLeod.

She is survived by nephews Darrell Westerman, Ken and Mike Smeltzer, nieces Peggy Schneider,Diane Alls , Dorothy Westerman, Cathy Beaudry, April Faulkner, Cheryl Lays, and Debbie Smeltzer.

She was a quiet, pleasant and caring person who loved reading, shopping, going on outings with family and friends, especially with her sister Rose and enjoyed a good cup of tea with friends and neighbours.

She worked as a secretary for the Nova Scotia government for 30 years, first with the Department of Lands and Forests and then in the Crown Prosecutors Office. She was a member of St. George Church, New Glasgow.

Our thanks to the staff of Glen Haven Manor, and the staff of the VON, CAREFORCE, and Meals on Wheels who looked after her in her last years. We shall miss her.

Funeral arrangements with H.W. Angus Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place. 

A memorial service and internment will take place at a later date.
