Vona Cecila Pyne, age 88, of Harmony Ridge, Colchester County passed away peacefully on January 1 with her husband and son by her side in the Colchester Regional Hospital.

Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of the late James and Constance (MacDonald) Ryan. She was raised by her grandparents Angus and Georgina MacDonald in the Asphalt.

Vona was a longtime resident of Westville having worked many years at Ira MacDonald’s store on Church Street. She was a member of the United Church of Canada, she enjoyed knitting, reading and a good game of Bingo. She and her husband Howard owned Harmony Ridge farm and was a proud supporter of all the 4-H kids who showed their cattle.

Vona is survived by her loving husband Howard, son Karl Taylor (Peggy Dewar), granddaughter Lauralee (Nathan) Dooley, and GG to Caoimhelee, Deaglan, Fianna and Keela Dooley; step-granddaughter Amy (Steve) Cameron and their sons Briac and Grayson; cousin Rhonda (Robert) Hamilton; special niece Michelle.

She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd G. Fraser, aunt Vona Porter and cousin Karleen (David) Carrigan.

Her remains will rest in the Mattatall -Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, in Truro on Sunday, January 4, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held on Monday, January 5, at 2 pm from the Mattatall -Varner funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. Burial in the Harmony Ridge Cemetery at a later date.
