Murdena Frances Leil Obituary

Murdena Frances Leil

June 12, 1935 – Fraser Mountain, Nova Scotia

Murdena Frances Leil was born in New Glasgow on June 12, 1935, the beloved daughter of the late Fraser and Myrtle MacDonald of Tewksbury, Mass, formerly of Thorburn. Murdena made her home in Pine Tree for 44 years, where she raised her family and built a life filled with love, laughter, and lasting friendships, later moving to Fraser Mountain, where she lived independently and treasured many happy years filled with memories, lots of company, heartfelt laughter, and always a great cup of tea.

A devoted member of Sutherland River Presbyterian Church, Murdena lived her life with quiet faith, kindness, and generosity. Her home was always a place of warmth, where a cup of tea, a listening ear, and a caring heart were never in short supply. Family and friends meant everything to her, and she took great pride in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Murdena will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her children: sons Billy (Mary Ann) Ontario and Gary (Angie) Stellarton, and daughters Karen (Al) Linacy, Gail (Melvin) Fraser Mt, and Beverly (Wesley) Andersons Mt. She leaves behind a cherished legacy through her 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Patsy (the late Bruce) Rundgren of Tewksbury, Mass, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins who held her dear.

Murdena was predeceased by her beloved husband Billy; her brother Dougie; her son Greg; her granddaughter Lindsey Lee; and her brother-in-law Bruce Rundgren.

Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. on Monday January 5th, 2026 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday Jan 6th, 2026 at 11 A.M. from the funeral home chapel with Mr. John Reeves officiating.

Family and friends are warmly invited to join us in celebrating Murdena’s life with tea, sweets, shared stories, and friendship after the funeral at H. W. Angus Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Dr. Gregor MacLean and the nurses from the 4th and 5th floors for their kindness shown to their mother.

Donations in Murdena’s memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society. A private family burial will be held at Telford Community Cemetery.
