Mary Alice Cullen Obituary

Mary (Mackay) Cullen Obituary It is with heavy hearts we announce Mary Alice Cullen, 67, passed away peacefully on December 24th, 2025, at New Glasgow in palliative care surrounded by the love of her family.


Mary maintained her kindness, caring for others and compassion up until the end of her life. Mary spent her whole working life with Scotia Bank in both Nova Scotia and Ontario. It was a career that lasted over 44 years. She was dedicated to her clients and took a personal interest in each and every client. Mary was described by many as knowledgeable, professional and helpful in making each client feel at ease.


Mary loved the outdoors as you could find her walking, looking after her garden and caring about all animals. She especially loved her hummingbirds who brought her many hours of pleasure. Mary seeked adventure through traveling every year to southern destinations.


 Mary is survived by her husband Robert (Bob) Cullen, daughter Macayla Cullen, mother Winnifred MacKay, mother-in-law Anne Cullen, sisters- in -law Linda Turnbull (Raymond), Lee Anne Cullen-Rudolph (Bill), niece Candace Turnbull, nephew Jarred Turnbull (Charlotte) as well as her many friends that will miss her.


Mary was predeceased by her father Everett MacKay, father-in-law John Cullen and sister-in-law Karen Cullen


 As a family we are forever grateful for the care and compassion given to Mary by the Doctors and nurses of the Palliative and Chemotherapy Units of the Aberdeen Hospital and her family physician Doctor Emmanual Rivera and his clinical staff.


Funeral arrangements for Mary are under the direction of H W Angus Funeral Home. Visitation is on Friday, January 2nd 2026 from 6-8pm at H.C. MacQuarrie’s Funeral Home in Stellarton. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, January 3rd at 11am at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Stellarton with Father Macdonald Ibeh officiating, reception to follow. Interment will take place in the Spring of 2026.


 In lieu of flower donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital or Hope for Wildlife. Mary will live on through her family, traditions that she established and the cherished memories that we share. “She gave us roots to grow and wings to fly - and her love will forever be the wind beneath them”
