it is with great sadness the family of James Wesley Cooley announces his death on December 15th, 2025 at the Aberdeen Hospital New Glasgow

James was born March 4th, 1953 in New Glasgow to Charles and Marion Cooley. James grew up in Thorburn and moved to Sudbury for work. That is  where he met his soulmate Nadine where they eventually moved back to Nova Scotia.

James worked for Michelin Tire (Granton) for 37 years before retirement, after retirement he worked for Dexter Construction as a truck driver then went on to work for C.F Construction finally retireing again do to health issues.

James loved spending time at the camp with the guys during hunting season, he would often pick his boys up early from school on the first day of deer season and head to the camp for the weekend. James also loved fishing, spending time on the Garden of Eden Lake and Lawlers Lake. James was former member of the Thorburn Fire Dept. and a 20 year member of the IOOF Moore Lodge #17 Thorburn.

Later in life James would spend time at Pine Acres campground then would eventually move his camper down to the Annapolis Valley and stay there most of the summer.

James' pride and joy were his grandchildren who he loved dearly.

James is survived by his wife of 53 years Nadine (Ede) Cooley, his sons James (Jennifer) their children Emily and Ryan, Dennis (Virginia) their children Lily, Jordan and Tyler. Borthers Gregory (Isabel), Michael (Joan) his sisters Cathy (Vernon Palmer) Julie (Ken Upham). sisters-in-law Lynn and Lorraine Cooley and many neices, nephews and cousins.

James was predeceased by his grandmother Julia Macdonald (gramma T) who helped raise him when he was young. His parents Charles and Marion Cooley, brothers Raymond, Dougie and great nephew Josh Cooley.

Funeral arrangements are being held by H.W. Angus Funeral Home New Glasgow, visitation Sunday, December 21 from 6pm to 8pm, funeral service will be held Monday, December 22nd at 11am at H.W. Angus Funeral Home.

A private graveside service will be held at a later date
