Evelyn Tait Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom, grandmother and great grandmother Evelyn Tait at the age of 99 on November 14, 2025

In her younger years Evelyn was active in the Women’s Institute, Saint Columba United Church as well as in her community.  She worked in Sunnybrae, Riverton, Hopewell and also worked for Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sobey, later getting a job at the store in Lorne; first for Stan Fraser, and then for Gerald Horne.

Mom was always busy baking up a storm, cleaning and constantly worrying about all her family. Evelyn got married in 1945 to Robert “Bob” Tait and together they had two daughters Gloria Yorke and Rosalie “Rose” Tait.

As time went on, Evelyn moved to Havenbrook Manor in Riverton upon the passing of her husband Bob where she lived for 10 years before moving to the Valley View Villa.

Evelyn is survived by her daughters Gloria Yorke (Mike) and Rose Tait (Rick Foote), granddaughters Bev (Tony) MacDougall, Kathy (Roddie) Crockett, Ashley Nichols (Nick), Brittany Himmelman (Ryan), her great grandchildren Clinton Yorke, Mitchel (Sam) Crockett, Janine Crockett, Madison, Makaya and Machlen Nichols; her great-great grandchildren, Rayna, Iyla, Brody and Dawson Crockett.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Robert “Bob” Tait, parents, John and Mary Anne Green, sister Florrie and grandson, Donald Robert Yorke.

The family would like to acknowledge Henry Gosby for all the trips he made with Mom to Tim Hortons and Sobeys over the years after Bob passed.

We would also like to thank the second floor, Valley View Villa staff you know who you are for always looking after our mom and a special thank you to Rachel McNeil and Jodi (Speedy) Heighton mom thought the world of you both you gave her some of the best days at the villa for that we are grateful.

There will be no visitation or funeral by request of Evelyn. There will be a graveside service at a later date.

Donations can be made to Saint Columba United Church or charity of one’s choice.

Mom lived her life to the fullest she can now look down from heaven and continue to worry about us

She will be forever missed by all her family and anyone that knew her.
