Obituary of Eileen Barbara Ann (Roberts) MacLean
Eileen Barbara Ann “Leenie” (Roberts) (MacGillivray) MacLean, affectionately known as “Leenie” passed away on October 27th, 2025, in New Glasgow, NS at the age of 75. Born on March 23rd, 1950 in Springhill, NS. Eileen was the daughter of Florence and Fred Roberts. She spent much of her life in Stellarton, where she made her home for over four decades and raised her family. In her earlier years, Eileen worked at the fish plant in Lismore. Later, she took a position with ICT, a job she often said she drastically disliked, and despite her feelings for the work, she found joy and made connections in the people she worked with and looked forward to seeing them each day.
Her warmth and humour left a lasting impression on those around her. Eileen was a woman of deep generosity and authenticity. If someone was in need, and she had it to give, Eileen was there to help out, no questions asked. Her caring nature touched many lives, and her sincerity shone through in every interaction. Eileen found great joy in the simple pleasures of life, tending to her garden every spring and summer; losing herself in a good book or movie; and most of all spending time with her 3 sons: Jim MacLean, the oldest; Joey MacGillivray, middle child; and Johnny MacGillivray, the youngest, and all of Stellarton and a huge source of pride and love. Eileen also loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Eileen was predeceased by her parents Florence and Fred Roberts and beloved husband, Fred MacGillivray; two brothers and two sisters. Her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of those who loved her. May her memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed.
In keeping with Eileen’s wishes, there will not be a funeral service or visitation. Donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.
