Cecil Maxwell Hatt, October 6, 1936 – November 10, 2025 

Cecil Maxwell Hatt passed away at home and went home to be with his Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, November 10, 2025 at the age of 89.

He was the son of the late Lewis and Marjorie Hatt.

He is survived by his loving wife Greta (Fisher) of 68 years, his daughters Brenda Reid and Colleen (Jim) Harriott, sons Mark Hatt and Charlie Noel; precious grandchildren Jocelyn Harriott (Josh Adams), Andrew (Katie) Harriott.  Also surviving Cecil is his sister Gwen (Mervin) Heidi, Sister-in-law Nancy Hatt as well as many nieces and nephews whom he very much loved and faithfully prayed for.

Cecil was predeceased by his three brothers Manning, Dwight and Reuben.

Cecil was a devoted Christian, husband, father and Papa to his grandchildren.  He was a very hard worker all his life. He started barbering at age 17 in Kingston Nova Scotia and then moved to Halifax and managed the barber shop in the Halifax Shopping Centre for many years. Then Cecil and Greta moved to Pictou County and started farming and Cecil drove the school bus until retirement.  He was president of the union for the school bus drivers for many years.

Cecil was a member of Bethel Baptist Church for many years and enjoyed the christian fellowship there with his brothers and sisters in Christ.  Cecil loved to share his unshakable faith in Christ and we think of one of his favorite Bible verses, John 6:47 KJV, “Jesus said most assuredly he who believes in Me has everlasting life”.

Cecil loved spending time with Greta and their family at their cottage on Caribou Island gardening and walking the beach in the moonlight.

The family is grateful for the care and kindness received by the VON and other home care workers, his nieces Cathy and Sarah and nephew Ivan and wonderful friends Danny and Shirley. We are very grateful to all of you, for your compassion and dedication shown to him and us.

Arrangements have been entrusted to H.W. Angus Funeral Home, 256 New Glasgow, NS  B2H 5E3.

The Celebration of Life Service and visitation will all take place on Friday, November 14th at Bethel Baptist Church, 1984 Temperance St, Westville, NS B0K 2A0 with Pastor Rob Ryggs officiating and Pastor Jacob Comeau assisting. The visitation will be from 1-2 pm, the Celebration of Life service will be at 2pm with reception to follow.  The service will also be on line from Bethel Baptist Church web site   https://www.facebook.com/watch/WestvilleBBC/ .

A family grave side service will be held at Waterside Cemetery the next day.
