PEARSON, ISABELLE MARGARET – Stellarton, NS, age 85, passed away peacefully at the Aberdeen Hospital, on August 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on July 12, 1940, she was the eldest child of the late Norman and Beatrice (O’Brien) Ferguson and was a resident of Stellarton all her life.
She is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Adrian Pearson, and together they raised a family of five children: son Colin (Nancy) Pearson, St. George’s, NL, their children Nicole, Toronto, ON, Jameson, Peterborough, ON, and Nolan, Sault Ste. Marie, ON; daughter Linda (Kim) Murray, Stellarton and their sons Dr. Mitchell (Samantha) Murray, Troy, New York, and Logan (Sara) Murray, New Glasgow; Valerie Pearson (Douglas Bedard), Windsor, ON and daughters Laurenza, Alexa, Jocelyn and grandchildren Isaac, Aidan and Aurora; son Michael Pearson, New Glasgow and his sons Maxwell and Jacob; son Maj. Robert (Kimberly) Pearson, Fredericton, NB and their sons Joshua and Matthew. Also survived by their much-loved great-grandson, Adrian Murray, New Glasgow.
Left to mourn are brother Norman (Jean) Ferguson and sister Geraldine Ferguson Goodyear, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brother James Ferguson and sister-in-law Heather Ferguson.
In her younger years Isabelle was employed as Secretary to the Pathologist and Laboratory Department at the newly-built Aberdeen Hospital. Active in her community she volunteered at Red Cross Blood Donor Clinics and often canvassed to help raise funds for various charities. For over twenty years she faithfully served as church Secretary and church Treasurer of First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton; leader of Explorers; the Ladies Guild; Pictou County Laubach Literacy Council, as a tutor as well as their Treasurer. She served for a decade as Statistician for the Town and Country Bowling League.
Belle took a keen interest in the Order of the Eastern Star, serving Harmony Chapter No. 25 O.E.S. as Secretary for thirty-three years. She also received a commission as Grand Representative for New Mexico and served on various Grand Chapter committees, over the years. In 2001-2002 Isabelle presided as Worthy Grand Matron over the “Hearts in Harmony” Grand Session of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Following this, she served as a General Grand Chapter Committee Member (Visionquest) for a three-year period.
Belle and Ade enjoyed extensive travels, sharing adventures together during their many journeys and cruises abroad. She was a loving wife and mother, devoted to her husband and family, an ardent reader and for many decades, a passionate gardener. She was a dedicated craftsperson who excelled in knitting, crocheting, sewing, and was known for the beautiful quilts she created.
The family would like to thank those who administered care, with compassion and dignity, during Belle’s final days: the emergency department and 4th floor north, of the Aberdeen Hospital.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton, from 6:00-8:00, Saturday, August 23rd. Funeral service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, Stellarton, on Sunday, August 24, at 2:00. Rev. Charles E. McPherson officiating. An O.E.S. service will be held at the church prior to the funeral service. Reception and fellowship with the family, in the church hall, immediately after the service. A private burial will take place in Brookside Cemetery.
