It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing of our loved one at home, July 29, 2025. Dale left us far too soon and we shall miss him dearly.
Born to Norman (Teddy) Greene and Beverly (Hartling) Greene, he was raised on McLellan’s Mountain. Dale attended school first in a one room school house on the mountain, then Greenwood, and finally East Pictou Rural High. At an early age, his love of the woods drew him in, and he worked at logging most of his life.
In 1971, he met Norma (Snell) and married her in March of 1972. They had 2 boys, Dale B. and Erin Michael.
In 1990, Dale and his brother Ted began entering local woods competitions, and were greatly successful. By September, they won enough times to qualify for the Game of Logging in Alabama, where they succeeded again. Dale won the north American championship and brother Ted just topping the list. Two weeks later, they were flying to Ohio to compete in the “Paul Bunyan Show”, and placed high on the list again.
Dale also loved music, playing guitar and singing, and ended up getting the bluegrass bug. Going to festivals weekends all summer, he got to play with great friends in a band.
Besides leaving behind his wife, son, and mother, he is survived by brothers Ted, Kim, and Vaughn Greene; sisters Norma and Shaunna; Melody, Kendall, Eleanor, April, and Jerry Mark Mailman; and stepbrother Russell Mailman. Dale also leaves his #1 friend and companion Jake, his Border Collie, who rode shotgun in his front seat everyday in the jeep. He also leaves behind his friends Billy, Edwin, and special friend Doug.
Dale was predeceased by his father Teddy in 2002, and his son Erin in 2019.
I want to take this opportunity to say “thank you” to 911, and the exceptional hard work of the paramedics who tried hard to revive Dale. The RCMP officers who were so kind, compassionate, and patient, made a stressful time more bearable. They were all very professional. Thank you, son, for taking over the CPR when I tried. You are my rock!
