Lois Katherine Gillis Obituary

Lois Katherine Gillis

July 14, 1930 – July 28, 2025

It is with deep love and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lois Katherine Gillis (Kellock) on July 28, 2025, at the age of 95. A resident of Plymouth Park, Pictou County, Lois was the daughter of the late Earle and Margaret (MacKenzie) Kellock.

She is survived by her children Peter (Andrew), Lisa (Jim Jordan), David, Irving, Ian (Kathy), and Allan (Tracy); ten grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; her beloved sister Viola Ross and brother Sandy (Dianne).

She was predeceased by her husband John, sons Sandy, Philip, and Mark, as well as her siblings Norval, Earle, Roy, Irving, Scott, Herdman, Gordon, Ross, Erma, Ione, Peggy, Jean, , Maxine and Marlene.

Lois proudly served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1952 to 1955 and went on to dedicate many years as a nursing assistant at Valley View Villa, where her kindness and care touched many lives.

A devoted mother, she raised a large family with unwavering strength and resolve. Yet her motherly care extended far beyond her own children — Lois had a rare ability to make others feel seen, valued, and loved.

She was best known for her legendary biscuits, cinnamon rolls, coffee squares, and mustard pickles and found joy in dancing, knitting, reading, and her long-standing devotion to Coronation Street.

The family extends special thanks to nieces Arlene and Karen for their tireless devotion and support in recent years, and to the doctors, nurses, and support staff of the 4th Floor and Palliative Care Unit at the Aberdeen Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion — it will not be forgotten.

A visitation will be held at H.W. Angus Funeral Home 256 King Street , New Glasgow  on Friday, August 1st from 2pm until 4pm.  A gravesite burial will take place at Christ Anglican Church, Stellarton, August 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Donations in memory of Lois may be made to the Palliative Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital or to  the Pictou County SPCA
