Wayne Carroll MacDonald, age 80, of Piedmont Valley Rd in Merigomish, passed away on July 24, 2025 at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow.

Born in Antigonish he was a son of the late Elmer and Edith (MacLeod ) MacDonald (Sangster). Wayne was a longtime resident of Piedmont. He was a member of the Pictou County Fiddlers and retired from the school board where he worked as a custodian. He enjoyed everything outdoors.

Wayne is survived by son Wayne MacDonald, Linacy; Bernice (Rick) MacDonald Edmonton; Melinda (Trevor) MacDonald, Hopewell; grandchildren Randy, Evan, Riley, Kaitlyn, Maddy, Abby , Bailey, Megan, Zack, Dylan, Kalan, and Nicholas; his 15 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters Fred (Linda), Howard, Jim (Carol), Jean, Alice (Sam), Noreen (Pat), Edith, Marilyn, and Valerie; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years Elizabeth Ann “Cookie” (Durant), stepfather Marshall Sangster; brothers Lawrence Sangster and Elmer MacDonald; and his fur baby Molly,

Visitation will be held from 10 A.M to the time of the funeral service at 11 A.M. on Friday, August 1st, 2025, at the H.W. Angus Funeral Home Chapel with Father Ibeh MacDonald officiating. Burial will be held in the French River Cemetery.
