Obituary of Margaret Anne Henderson

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Margaret A. Henderson on June 11th at the age of 91. It was her mother’s birthday, so she went to join the party. She was the daughter of the late William and Cecelia (Partner) Boudreau. Mom was a homemaker who raised 6 children. She instilled in us a strong work ethic, to be kind, and to always help others when you can. When we were in high school, mom started working at Kmart and then at Dalfins. She did this part time so that she could still be at home to do the running of the household and look after Steve and her mom (big nan). She was a member of the Lourdes CWL for over 50 years, and was the past president and treasurer for the organization. She was also the Avon lady for Stellarton and Plymouth, and was awarded over 30 Alby’s figurines from the president’s club. She went to stay at the Glen Haven Manor in June of 2024. It was hard for her at first, but she settled in quickly. Although her memory was fading, she was happy, and would say things then laugh and laugh. One such thing was when she asked how many children she had. We would tell her 6, she would take a minute and say “I should have drowned you all in the river!”. Then she would laugh and laugh. We never took it to heart. We knew we were her world. As and if it was on cue, Steve entered the Glen Haven 2 months later so she could still look after him. We would like to thank the staff at the Glen Haven Serenity Springs for their support and kindness that they gave her over the year she was there. The five of us would like to thank our sister Roxanne for the compassion and care that was given to mom to keep her in her home after dad passed. You are selfless and well loved. Margaret is survived by her children Marion (Darrell) of Loch Broom, Herbert (Cathy) of Stellarton, Suzanne of Westville, Stephen in the Glen Haven, Roxanne of Stellarton, and Christopher (Tammy) of Hamilton; 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; sister Phyllis (Dom) Deptuck of Hamilton; and brother-in-law Bob Humphrey of Lower Sackville. She was predeceased by her parents, husband Herb, brother Bill; sisters Jean, Eleanor, and Marjorie; and son-in-law’s Kenny and Ed. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 16 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel in Stellarton. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 17 at 2pm from Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Ibeh MacDonald officiating. A reception will follow at the Church Hall. Burial will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. Donations may be made to Glen Haven Manor Recreation in memory of Margaret, as Stephen still is under their care.
