Margaret Elizabeth Battist Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce Margaret Elizabeth Battist passed away on May 28, 2025 at the Aberdeen Hospital at the age of 76.


Born in Pictou on October 22, 1948, she was the daughter of the late James Cowan and Mary Katherine (Hayden) MacLeod. Margaret worked at Maxine's Greenhouse for many years of her career, and then moved on to work at Proudfoot's Home Hardware until her retirement.


Margaret is survived by sons Troy and Kevin Battist; grandchildren Tyler, Kyra, Cole, MaKayla, and Brody; great-grandchildren Nash and Naomi; brother Bert (Sheila) MacLeod, sister Evelyn (Danny) Dunn, and sister-in-law Ann.


She was predeceased by her brothers Jimmy (Ann) MacLeod, and Phil MacLeod.


A big thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit.


A Celebration of Margaret’s life will be held on Wednesday, June 4th, from 4-7pm at the Durham Community Hall.
