It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our loving mother, wife, grandnanny, great-grandnanny, sister, and friend. Helen Marie Richardson, 87, of the Valley View Villa in Stellarton, formerly of River Deny’s, Cape Breton, passed away at the Villa with her family by her side on May 21st.

Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Murray and Mary (Power) Tanner.

She is survived by her sons David (Heather) Richardson of River Deny’s, Terry (Doreen) Richardson of New Glasgow, and daughters Paula (Bill) Crane of Eastern Passage, and Carla Richardson of Westville. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jennifer (Seth) Rozee, Corey (Simone) Richardson, Allana (Adam) Bowman, Tommy (Juila) Hacquoil, David (Amber) Crane, and Bailey Crane, and great-grandchildren Lucas and Lilah Rozee, Owen, Austin, and Jack Hacquoil. Also, her sisters Anne, Jean, and brother John, along with many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her loving husband of 61 years David, their son Todd, and her sister Dorothy.

We can’t thank the staff at the Valley View Villa enough for all the love and care you gave mom, as well as the Aberdeen Hospital for the care over the years. Thank you to the doctors and staff. A huge thank you to the doctors and staff at the Westville Medical Clinic.

Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held Friday, May 30th at 11am from the HW Angus Funeral Home in New Glasgow, with Rev. Karen Ross officiating. A reception will follow the service.

On Saturday, May 31st at 1pm, a service will be held at Forbes United Church in River Deny’s with Rev. Karen Ross officiating, with a burial to follow at Fir Grove Cemetery.
