Sorry to here of Erika's passing. I met some years ago when my mother and mother in law lived in Haven Brook Manor. She was a very determined lady and always ready to give an opinion. Always nice to speak with her while visiting. Sorry I couldn't make it to the funeral.

Q: How did you meet Erika?
A: Erika, I remember the first time we met.
With your father-in-law Wilhelm, your niece Catrin, me, your nephew Nico and your mother-in-law Maria. It must have been around the 80s, during one of your visits to Germany. You kept in touch reliably and persistently and so we saw each other again in 2002 with my wife Claudia, daughter Nadine and son Jendirk in Canada and in 2007 in Germany and strengthened our ties. Love for a person is not lost with death. Our grief is a witness to this love. It changes through time and memories with the deep trust that the dead and the living are connected by an eternal soul bond. So we always have your voice in our ears, your image in our minds and you in our hearts. A part of you is always with us in our hearts.
Peace be with you

Erika came to Canada (by boat from Germany ) with my Mom in the 50's and was in my life since I was born in 1968.
Over the years , I have so many fond memories of seeing her, or speaking on the phone with her. She never missed a birthday or a special occasion.
I was fortunate enough to visit her in Nova Scotia in 2023. We had such a lovely time. Her apartment was filled with pictures of friends and family. The walls were literally covered in them. She was loved by many.

Erika had a special place in my heart. Although we weren't related she was always like family to me. I will miss the road trips with Erika, Mom and Milo and will always think of her when I have fish and fries (her favorite). I wish I could have been there in Nova Scotia to visit with her one last time. Rest in Peace my dear friend it was an honor to spend time with you.
Love Always Lisa Young

I first met Erika 20 years ago while working at the Villa.
She had such a strong personality, I couldn't help but admire her. She treasured her family and her relationships, her home was filled with pictures and other things gathered over her very full lifetime.
I enjoyed listening to many of those memories, some of them not so pleasant, but her strength and resilience always shone through.
I feel blessed to have known such a strong, beautiful lady,
I will miss you, Erika
With love, your friend, Charmaine
