Obituary of Elizabeth Ann MacDonald

Elizabeth Ann “Cookie” (Durant) MacDonald, born May 3rd, 1952, passed away on March 8th, 2025 peacefully in palliative care, surrounded by her family.
Elizabeth worked many jobs in her career, including STFX University, Glen Haven Manor, and Lismore Fish Factory. She was a devoted wife, mother, and nanny. She often enjoyed a warm beer in her chair or by the fire while tormenting everyone.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years Wayne MacDonald (Piedmont), son Wayne (Chantel) MacDonald (Linacy), Bernice (Rick) MacDonald (Edmonton), Melinda (Trevor) MacDonald (Hopewell) and her dog (fur baby) Molly. Grandchildren Randy, Evan, Riley, Kaitlyn, Madilyn, Abby, Bailey, Megan, Zack, Dylan, Kalan, and Nicholas, and her 14 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her mother Rita Benoit (Pomquet), step-father Peter Benoit, brother Billy Durant, brother Robert Benoit, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 10-11 am Thursday March 13th, 2025 from the HW Angus Funeral Home in New Glasgow, with the funeral service to follow at 11am with Fr MacDonald Ibeh officiating.
Donations in Elizabeth’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
She touched the heart of everyone she met, and will never be forgotten.
