Obituary of Chester Arnold MacGrath

MacGrath, Chester Arnold age 74 of Aspen NS son of the late Fraser, Lois (Jordan) McGrath passed away peacefully on February 27, 2025, at Saint Martha’s Regional Hospital.
Chester was a proud family man who found joy in spending time with his loved ones. A friend to many who have countless memories, he was always ready with a helping hand, quick wit, and a huge heart.
Chester was a dedicated figure in the trucking industry, defined by his relentless work ethic, and unwavering passion for his craft. For over 45 years he worked tirelessly hauling construction materials, wood, and rebuilding engines. His work was not a job but a way of life. Known for his reliability, dedication, and exceptional skill behind the wheel. He drove for many companies including Herbie MacLaughlin Trucking, Kells, G&G, Hodgeson Chipping, and finally ended his career at home with his brothers at L&E MacGrath Bros.
He is survived by his son Craig (Natalie) MacGrath, grandsons Quinn and Finley who were his pride and joy that he loved dearly and what kept him battling his illness. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Haggart Ont., Jean (John) Simms Sherbrooke, Margaret MacGrath Glenelg, Erma Bowles St Andrews, Agnes (John) Archibald New Town, Minnie (Russell) MacLaughlin Glenelg. Brother Lloyd (Cindy) MacGrath Aspen, Sisters-in-law Mary, Margie, (Bill), Jackie (Ken), Jo-ann, Brothers-in-law Carmen (Terri), Billy (Colleen), George (Mary). Many nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
He is predeceased by the true love of his life, wife Hughena (Weenie) MacGrath, Brothers Ellis, Charles, Robert, John, James, Thomas, and sister Mary in Infancy. Brother-in-laws Ralph, Danny and Donald.
Visitation will be Monday March 3, 2025, 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 at Kirk Memorial United Church in Aspen, with Funeral Tuesday March 4, 2025, at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the lung association of Canada.
A special Thank You to the staff at Saint Mary’s Memorial Hosptial and the Palliative Care Unit in Saint Martha’s Regional Hospital.
Rest in peace Chester, your journey may be over, but your legacy will continue on the road.
