Obituary of Robert Phillip Long
Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
We are saddened to announce that Robert Phillip Long 73 of Coalburn passed away at home on Tuesday, February 11th, 2025. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Mary Long, Thorburn and the late Clyde Long.
Robert spent his life on the road as a long haul trucker for Conner's Transfer and finished his driving days at CF Construction this past November. As an avid lover of vintage cars he could be found with his 69 Mach1 Acapulco blue Mustang at car shows around the province. Robert’s garage was always open and ready to host family and friends at any time. Although one would have to be prepared to handle his sharp witted humour and to be promptly given a nickname. Robert loved having company and loved to share a good story and a good time. Whether it was his grandchildren ,his nieces and nephews ,siblings or his extended Thorburn/Pictou County family ,Robert was there for them all and along for the ride. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Robert is survived by his grandchildren, Olan and Willow DeYoung and their mother Amanda. Sisters, Sharon (Armand)Lorge, Thorburn, Ardyth (Geordie)Palmer, Thorburn and Audrey (Tim) Goswell, MacLellan’s Brook, as well as his aunt Phyllis Costantino, Belmont ,MA.
