Roy William Kenny age 79, of Lorne passed away on July 27, 2023 at home. Born in New Glasgow he was a son of the late James and Catherine (Gosbee) Kenny.
Roy retired after 30 years working with Department of Transportation, he also did small engine and auto body work. Roy was a pilot and enjoyed time spent flying, he was also a musician playing in many bands but most notably “Cherokee” which was inducted into the Pictou County Music Hall of Fame and most recently, “Grandpa and The Boys” which he played in with his two grandsons.
Roy is survived by his wife Marion (Sharpe); daughters Sherry MacDonald, Trenton; Donna Kenny, MacLellan’s Brook; grandsons Matthew (Wendy), Brandon (Cassandra) and Tyler; 5 great-grandchildren Lucas, Brayden, Caleb, Bella and Lyla; sisters Elva MacLean, Angeline (Lloyd; brothers Jerome, Lloyd (Marion) and sister-in-law Theresa.
He was predeceased by a sister Mable; brothers James, Terry, Ross, Alex, and Leo.
The family will receive friends from 1 – 3 pm on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A graveside service will follow at 4 pm in the Lorne Cemetery. Donations in memory of Roy may be made to the IWK Hospital for Children.
