Obituary of Melvin Foote

Robert Melvin Foote - age 85, of French River died peacefully on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow after a lengthy illness.

Born in French River, he was a son of the late John and Ethel (Robson) Foote.

Melvin retired from Hawker Siddeley due to illness. Melvin had previously worked for the Department of Transportation. He loved the outdoors and took great pride in his gardening skills. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and logging on the Foote property. During the winter months he spent all his free time in his workshop creating his wooden treasurers

Surviving are his wife of 25 years, Donelda (MacLeod), children Darryl Ross, Telford; Olivia King, Texas; Margie Best, Westville; Rick (Rose), Alma; Blaine (Eva), Laggan; Shawna (Joey) MacLellan, Lantz; Shane (Chastity), Alma; grandchildren Robbie Ross, Kierra and Jadeyn King, Holly and Lauren Cunningham, Lane and Reese Foote, Reagan MacLellan; great-granddaughter Kenli Ross; brother Lawrence (Eileen); many nieces and nephews two of which were very special to him, Jeanie Patterson and Wade Robichaud, both were not only family but were close neighbors and were always there to help..

Melvin was predeceased by a brother Lloyd and sisters Edna Robichaud and Olive Ross.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Thursday, November 7, 2019 in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow from where funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Friday, November 8, 2019 with Rev. Charles McPherson officiating. A reception will follow at the funeral home. Burial will be in Kenzieville Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
